Continuing Education Units for Long-Term Care Facilities
Education with a uniquely compassionate twist
Welcome! Integrated Health Concepts is an approved, authorized provider of continuing education and training through the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is able to customize any program to meet your individual facility's needs.
The long-term care setting has many challenges. One of the biggest is retaining a compassionate and motivated staff. A long-term care facility is only as good as the individuals caring for the patients. Regardless of the guidelines in place, or the aesthetic appeal of the facility, success boils down to a loving respect and a genuine concern for the patient.
Dr. James Schrenker has 13 years of experience in the long-term care setting, ten of those years as a Medical Director. He knows first hand how a compassionate staff makes a facility good and empowered. A compassionate staff allows your facility to stand out.
Everyone in administration knows the importance of continuing education, but also has a fiscal responsibility to the organization.
Integrated Health Concepts has the solution for your needs. "Affordable", "practical", and "empowering" are just a few adjectives that describe these unique continuing education programs. Just look at the menu of topics we address and you will know that Dr. Schrenker understands how long-term care facilities operate.

CEU Program Options
We all know the financial pressures in the healthcare field, but in the LTC setting the margins are even thinner. Yet in order to be profitable, we must maintain a qualified, compassionate, and empowered staff. For these reasons Integrated Health Concepts has developed the first of its kind CEU Program. You now have very affordable choices for educating your staff, with a uniquely compassionate twist. And the best part is, they don’t have to miss work to take our training.
Option # 1
We can approve your programs for IACET Continuing Education Credit! If your facility has programs it currently uses for in-service education, we can certify them for IACET CEU’s. This means your staff can get CEU credit towards their licensure, and at the same time fulfill your facility's requirements. Just send us a copy of your program and we will work with you in order to ensure it meets the standards of excellence set by IHC and IACET. By offering CEU’s towards state and national licensure, your facility brings added value and benefits to it’s employees.
$250: Submit two programs. Once approved, IHC will certify your program for an appropriate number of CEU’s for a 6-month time period.
$500: Submit five programs. Once approved, we will certify your programs for an appropriate number of CEU’s for a 6-month time period.
Approved programs can be shown as many times as needed by your facility. Participants may only obtain CEU’s once for successfully completing the approved courses. There is a $10 fee per individual per hour of CEU requested. Participants will need appropriate documentation of course completion, and a self-addressed stamped envelope with a check or money order for $10 per credit hour made payable and mailed to:
Integrated Health Concepts, LLC
P.O. Box 819
Bristol, TN 37621
Once fees are received, a certificate of completion will be mailed from IHC to the attendee.
Option # 2
Integrated Health Concepts will provide its own exceptional programs for your staff. Have one of your own staff members present one of our certified programs to your people. We will include a copy of the master PowerPoint along with a master copy of a workbook for the course. This will provide your facility with everything you need to start teaching.
$500: Includes 2 programs of your choice. All PowerPoints and notes included.
$1000: Includes 5 programs of your choice. All PowerPoints and notes included.
We will certify these programs for a 6-month period.

Program Topics Available
Calling All Doctors
The participants will be introduced to the essential information needed before they call the attending physician. Dr. Schrenker will help take a complex situation and distill it into just enough, and not too much, information. Giving too much information can distract from the facts; too little can be disastrous. Dr. Schrenker will help the participants to convey their thoughts without bruising any egos.
The Out-of-Town Daughter
This lecture will discuss and give examples of situations where tangential caregivers try to dominate and control healthcare delivery. During this presentation we will discuss how to deal with the personalities of the out-of-town relatives.
Workplace Conflict
Participants will learn of common problems such as anger and fear that lead to workplace conflict. This lecture will give detail to successful peaceful resolution of conflicts. We will study the role of forgiveness and ego in establishing a peaceful workplace.
Management of Hyperglycemia in LTC
This lecture is a review of the pathophysiology of DM and concise overview of current treatment options, including dietary modifications, oral medications, and insulin therapy.
End-of-Life Issues
Participants will learn the typical physiologic transitions that occur during death. We will explore the emotions evoked from family, staff, and friends. The options of comfort and palliative care will be discussed, and healthy coping mechanisms will be introduced.
Grief
Grief can be a big part of life in an LTC facility. Grief comes from many different places, such as losing a loved one to death, or confinement. We will discuss Elizabeth Kübler-Ross’s seven stages of grief and apply them to real-life situations in order to better prepare staff personally and professionally.
Hydration 101
Keeping LTC clientele hydrated is a formidable task, yet one that is absolutely necessary. Participants will learn that the consequences of dehydration can be deadly, or at the least expensive. This lecture illustrates the need for adequate hydration and the benefits thereof. This program can turn water into cash for your facility.
Stress
Stress affects every human to some degree, yet the same situation is not uniformly stressful to everyone. We will describe stress and review the pathophysiology of stress and its consequences. Proven stress reducing techniques will be taught.
Review of Common Lab Results
It is important for nurses to be familiar with commonly ordered lab tests. Increased awareness of normal/abnormal values improves delivery of appropriate patient care. This program will review common labs, normal and abnormal values including: CMP, BMP, CBC, TSH, PT/INR, C-Diff, B12, VitD, UA, Urine Culture, Fingerstick Glucose.
