Holistic Therapies Offered at IHC

Acupuncture

As one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedures in the world, acupuncture has grown in popularity in the U.S. over the last two decades. The main purpose of this ancient technique is to aid in the balancing of the meridians, or energy pathways, allowing the energy to flow freely. Currently acupuncture is used to relieve many medical conditions, including chronic pain from fibromyalgia, back pain, and headaches. In addition, acupuncture is also used to relieve nausea and is especially helpful for those undergoing chemotherapy. In some cases acupuncture has even been used to ease withdrawal symptoms during drug or alcohol rehabilitation programs.

Massage Therapy

As one of the best known alternative therapies, therapeutic massage is not only enjoyable but highly beneficial. Positive therapeutic benefits include effects on the cardiovascular system, lymphatic/immune systems, nervous and endocrine systems, respiratory system, digestive system, and much more. Visits with a massage therapist provide more than just the physical massage received: instruction on how to breathe for relaxation, stretching exercises, and instruction on basic self massage routines are also often given.

Raindrop and Vitaflex with Essential Oils

This technique combines the benefits of aromatherapy with the healing benefits of therapeutic grade essential oils. Originally developed for correcting defects in the curvature of the spine, this technique has been found to enhance the immune system; support the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, and nervous systems; as well as to detoxify the body of harmful viruses, bacteria, chemicals, and toxic metals. Using a non-invasive technique, the oils are applied to the feet and along the spine of the back for maximum absorption. Raindrop and Vitaflex are a perfect example of therapeutic treatments that an individual can learn to use at home and on the family, allowing individuals to care for themselves and avoid costly medical bills.

Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that is administered by gentle touch. Techniques such as this have been practiced in most cultures for thousands of years. Reiki is a natural and holistic healing method which allows a person to absorb more life-force energy and to release stored negative energy (pain & stress). The healing energy flows in a powerful and concentrated form through the hands of the Reiki giver to revitalize one’s life force and balance the energies in the body. It usually helps healing of all kinds (physical, emotional, and spiritual) and relieves pains and acute symptoms very quickly. Reiki is also used to ease chemotherapy symptoms, and to aid in postoperative healing from surgery.

Herbal Program

Herbal medicines are directed towards aiding the body's own healing processes. Herbal medicines act gently, usually attempting to "nudge" or "support" systems and processes that have become deficient or helping to remove excesses that have become preponderant. Our Master Herbalist works to give each client direction on integrating herbal medicines into the healing process. Many of the herbals provided by our herbalist are client specific, also making the probability of undesired reactions from unwanted substances less likely.

Dietary Program

The Dietary Program at Integrated Health Concepts provides an initial assessment and up to 2 follow-up visits over a 6-month period. This program is designed to guide each client in making healthful choices in their eating habits, provide knowledge in portion control, and also evaluate the progress of diet changes. Completing this program will help individuals understand emotional attachments to food, the why and how of what they eat, and how to gain satisfaction from their food choices. This program is especially useful for those who have little understanding of nutritional and caloric values of foods, or for those who eat on the run a lot.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a science that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all the glands, organs, and parts of the body. These reflexes are also found in the ears and teeth. Reflexology is a unique method of using the thumb and fingers on these reflex areas. There are over 7,200 nerve endings in each foot and stimulating these: 1) relieves stress and tension, 2) improves blood supply and promotes the unblocking of nerve impulses, and 3) helps nature to normalize (helps the body to balance). It encourages the body to heal itself and is cumulative in its benefits. Reflexology is an ancient practice dating back to the time of the Egyptians, as seen from a painting in a tomb. It works well with all health therapies.
